Sunday FormBet ratings

masterofthehorse_thumb.jpgQuite a few near misses during the TV races but from the 30 races rated on the day, the top-3 provided 14 winners on the day and a further 25 places. The top-rated selection alone produced 8 wins and 9 places with the highlight being top-rated Flying Valentino who scored at 20’s on BetfairSP.

The highlight is the Irish Derby at the Curragh. It’s a real shame that Sea The Stars misses the race but the 2nd and 3rd renew rivalry and although I have Fame Of Glory top-rated ahead of Golden Sword I actually really like the look of stablemate MASTEROFTHEHORSE (hidden, above in striped cap). He was only a neck behind Fame & Glory at Epsom after ‘surprisingly’ being given waay too much to do by Richard Hughes. He was 10 lengths behind the winner rounding Tattenham Corner yet was only beaten less than 2 lengths. He is the better value given that this course and going should be ideal and he was only a 1/2 length behind Sea The Stars at 2 over a mile here. Fortunately, I got on at 7/1 early but the 3/1 with the Derby winner missing is probably still the value shout. The lack of Johnny Murtagh is not a problem, Johnny has chosen wrong on quite a few occasions this season and has chosen wrong the last 2 years whereas ‘The Heff’ has won the Irish Derby for the last 2 years and this improving Sadler’s Wells colt can improve again.

I’ll post any other Best Bets on Sunday if I get the chance.
