Seymour to land Summer National
Trainer Renee Robson has an excellent course record at Uttoxeter with a 25% win strike-rate and can land the 4:55 race with KIKOS. He has been a bridesmaid on his last 3 outings over 2 1/2 mile+ trips so the drop back to 2 miles for this front-runner looks a smart move and he could prove very tough to catch round here. 7/2 is not the greatest price in the world but in the context of this race and how I think it will be run, combined with the trainers record at the course, it looks a value play to me. I rate Star of Germany the danger for in-form David Pipe.
Renee Robson can also go close with King Barry in the Summer National at 4:25 but at 20/1 with Stan James and bigger on the exchanges SEYMOUR WELD looks the value call to me. He fell on his handicap debut last time but looks overpriced as a result of that as I’m always willing to forgive one mistake. Had previously shown to be an improving novice chaser with 5 wins from his previous 6 races and he just looks overpriced given that previous record and if he jumps as fluently as he did on his previous outings he will go very close.
In the 5:05 at the Curragh EAGLE’S PASS is worth an each-way bet following a decent win last time. With O’Brien, Oxx and Weld runners in the field we may even get better than the current 8/1 best price but he should not be underestimated and I rate jockey Wayne Lordan very highly indeed.
Not too much else catches my eye although the Hills team could land a short-priced double at Windsor. I will probably kick back and enjoy the Irish Derby and play the few ValueBets below, Mith Hill is out of sorts but be interesting to see what effect the first-time tongue-strap has as he is well handicapped on his best form of a few years ago.
