Hitting the beach, back @ the weekend

beachy_thumb.pngI’m off to the beach for a few days to chill out and will be back for the weekend action. I feel now is a good time to take a breather with the weather set to be so good this week and the racing until the weekend is dire. No point staying indoors trying to eek a profit out of substandard races. I’ll be back to cover the action Live in the chat room on Saturday for Sandown and Haydock which features some much better action including the Lancashire Oaks, Old Newton Cup, some decent handicaps at Sandown and of course Sea The Stars in the Eclipse.

Here are Tuesday’s ratings, keep an eye out for my article, hopefully published in the Weekender on Wednesday…fame at last !

CANNON FIRE is yet to win over fences but usually runs a consistent race and returns in the 8:45 at Stratford following a break. 5/1 best price means we should get at least a small profit at least from a 10win/20place bet. Williams and Moloney are in decent form and this represents the horses best chance of a win yet.

The presence of McCoy on Keep It A Secret means we are getting a decent price about course winner CHEEKY LAD who is worth a 10/20 win and place bet at odds of around 11/2 in the 7:45 at Stratford. There is not much between the two but he is the value call and is more than capable of shocking the McCoy fans here. At the very least he should run into a place for a small return and it’s a low risk play.

One other that caught my eye today from my stable notes and it’s top-rated is MANDELEIU in the 2:30 at Brighton. He looks to have a decent each-way chance today at a price and Ollie Pears commented on the C&D winner –:

“We bought him out of William Haggas’ tard and he’s a half brother to Knot In Wood. When he first arrived he pulled too hard but we have done a lot of work with him and hopefully will be rewarded. He’s a lot more tractable now and ran well at Redcar and Carlisle, but I then made the mistake of running him too quickly at Carlisle. There is a 0-55 at Brighton next month and he’ll go down there. I’ll be looking for the best rider available and I’m sure he’s handicapped to win.”
