Jeer to have last laugh
Here are Tuesday’s ratings. A fairly good day on Monday with plenty of winners from the top-3 on the ratings and dutching them seemed to work well. A couple of near misses at big prices but am happy with how the ratings are performing at the moment in the run up to Newmarket July meeting which starts on Wednesday.
Very little to really get excited about today but I’ve picked a few out. In the 4:00 at Pontefract JEER looks worth a bet. He has slipped down to a winnable mark, has run well the last few outings for his stable, has conditions in his favour and Mick Easterby (pictured) has started to find a bit of form lately.
The ‘big’ race at 4:30 sees ETON RIFLES top-rated and he should go very close after a decent win last time. The price is not great but he should take the beating here. A big price though is OPUS MAXIMUS for the in-form Mark Johnston who at 16/1 could reward a win/place bet. There is very little between the 2nd-4th on the ratings and he appears to represent the best value and his low draw could be a plus.
The 5:30 should go to Michael Dods HEY UP DAD and the first time tongue-tie could bring further improvement. He could be difficult to beat here although as ever I will be looking to cover/dutch, probably with the 2nd rated MISS SOPHISTICAT.
I don’t usually back short odds but NINTH HOUSE looks to be about the strongest rated runner of the day in the 5:15 at Wolverhampton, rated a full 60pts clear of the 2nd Kingsmaite although these small-runner affairs can often throw up strange results.
Others that look to have chances today are…
Ross630 ROCHESTER FALLS
Ross730 FOYLE VIEW
Utto750 PERSIAN WARRIOR
