Saturday 2-y-o ratings 1 August (updated)
Friday was disappointing, despite finding the winner of 4 out of 8 races as the four winners were all short prices. Poet’s Voice actually started at 4/9 from a morning price of 11/10!
Saturday’s ratings have thrown up some interesting potential bets, I just hope the predicted heavy rain doesn’t spoil the day’s racing. My best bet of the day is JOE PACKET (Lingfield 6:25) who will have to covercome a bad draw but is available at 4/1 so is worth a bet. I think the best value bet today is POOR PRINCE (Goodwood 4:15) who can be backed at 15/2 each-way with Sporting.
I’m not too confident in the effectiveness of the ratings in the Nursery at Goodwood (4:50) as I think the value bet in a trappy race is SLICE each-way at 12/1 with Skybet. The fillies Nursery that opens the Newmarket card at 2:10 looks even harder for punters but the top-rated SHE’S OK is over-priced at 14/1 along with SILVER GREY at the same price and I suggest a small each-way play on the pair. At Doncaster NEWTON CIRCUS (2:40) wouldn’t be 5/1 if he hadn’t flopped on the AW and is worth another chance at that price.
