Sunday 24th January 2010 – Results
Not a great turnout today, with only 13 runners setting off. In what proved a difficult day to find the winners it was left to yours truly to come up with the only winner on the day, BRIANH on Watamu Bay at 7/2, and a move forward of five places. Our leaders were not in the running today, so whilst they remained in their respective places, they did edge slightly further ahead due to players just behind them losing ground today.
Monday 25th January 2010 – Results.
Apologies for today, but the site has had some technical problems, which Dave is beavering away at trying to resolve. It may have meant some players did not get their selections in, but Dave has provided a link for you to put your selections up.
We did have a smaller field of ten players who did however take part, and again there was only one player who managed a win, and that was LOUIS on Marosh at 11/10, a win that sees him just extend his lead at the head of the table, and well deserved too, from his 18 selections that have run so far, 9 have been winners, an excellent 50% strike rate. Got to give a mention today to PrivateB, who had a 66/1 shot beaten by a head, had that gone in I think it would have been game over for us all, unlucky mate.
Tuesday 26th January 2010 – Results.
Again we only had 10 players at the starting gate today, but the results were more of quality than quantity. First player over the line was MATTG on General Tufto at 9/1, coming home in second place was SHILLY on Madison Belle at 9/2, and following on their heels was LOUIS on Desperate Dex at 6/4.
So despite the current leader Louis having scored a four-timer and his tenth winner this month, he has had to surrender his overall lead to MattG today who put in a strong burst to go clear of the field today, and Shilly puts himself back in the frame just sitting behind those two in third place. Its looking like it could be a very interesting last few furlongs as we grind through to the winning post.
Wednesday 27 Jan 2010 – Results
We had 12 runners at the starting gate today, and probably predictably the only player to get a result today was LOUIS on Love Delta at 2/1. His fifth consecutive winner, and although it was not enough to secure the lead, he is very delicately chipping away at the leader, and in his current form it looks like he could well reap his reward. He has 4 furlongs to go, so it is gonna be a case of putting the pedal to the metal in the final straight.
Thursday, January 28, 2010 – Results
Firstly, this evening I have to point out that I have ‘voided’ one selection today, that being the entry made by Timevoyager. Entering a selection as ‘Betfair Favourite’ is not acceptable. You must nominate your selection giving the horses name.
So the field set off today with 11 runners, and again we have only one winner. And just to prove Louis is human after all, it was not him today, he only managed a rather pathetic 2nd, tut tut, must do better. Our winner today was JOHNBOY0249 on Carole’s Legacy at 15/8. And I really do take my hat off to the guy, he’s stuck at the foot of the table, even today’s winner has not helped him off the bottom rung, but he’s put in his selection almost every day even though his record has not been good, but fair play for his enthusiasm. He did claim he put in a 25/1 winner earlier in the month, but as I could see no record of it I had to deny him his glory, but the guy has battled on, no spitting out of his dummy. Well done sir, and congratulations.

Friday 29th January 2010 – Results
We had 12 runners at the start today, however, Louis was on a non-runner and was left at the starting to gate to wonder what might have been. As it turned out, he morally was the winner on the day, as not one punter managed to find a winner, I think that is the first time in the competition so far that this has happened. So Louis has edged to within ¾ of a length of Mattg. We are now in the last 2 furlongs of the race, so can anyone come out of the pack and snatch the spoils, this weekend will tell.

Just to respond to Timevoyager. Yes, you are correct in what you say regarding the rules. I obviously omitted to include the word ‘named’ selection. However, I think most everyone on this forum has for the existence of the competition named their selection, and has not requested a selection as a ‘favourite’ in a particular race. I think this is pretty much accepted as the norm in most competitions of this type. Check out the Racing Post Naps table, I don’t believe they accept favourites, everyone names their selection. I think if we started accepting selections along those lines we would have people wanting the Paddy Power fav in this race, the Ladbrokes fav in another, Stan James fav in something else. Betfair in another. From an administration point of view it is unreasonable to expect me to be checking out all these sites to find the favs in the respective races. Lets keep things as simple as possible.
When the forum software problem is resolved I intend to change the wording to include the ‘named’ selection, but as of now, its not possible to edit the rules.
I hope this will not detract from your entering the competition in the future. I hold my hand up, and yes you were correct on the rule, and appreciate you pointing it out. But I believe in the spirit of the competition the majority of the players here would accept that I was requiring a named horse. Good luck in your future selections.
