I recorded a few videos today (5th July) to show how I pick out winners from the FormBet ratings and some strategies that I use on a race-by-race basis. 6 races played and recorded and a +172pts total profit (see below) and that was me playing it safe with some in-running hedges for small stakes I hope it gives you some pointers on how to play the ratings and the key stats to pay attention to.

To get the full benefit and the analysis of the day’s best bets from the ratings every day then register on the signup page.

Some people say it’s easy to pick out 2-3 in a race to show a profit, but that’s only true if you have the information from the FormBet Ratings as a quick, detailed reference as you can see from the videos below otherwise you are betting blind. Below the videos you will see some examples of horse’s selected in the daily. morning email updates and advised for FREE bets with Bet365 in their Feature races.

Bet365 Feature Race Bets advised since Friday -:

Friday – STOTSFOLD at 4/1 is worth bet. Won well over this CD last time in the Brigadier Gerard and arrives here in-form for an in-form yard. (WINNER – 9/2 FREE BET)

Saturday – Mark Prescott’s record here stands out so I’d be taking an e/w chance on VIRGINIA HALL e/w for the Free Bet365 bet at 8/1. (WINNER 8/1 FREE BET)

Sunday – The 4.20 at Market Rasen and I have to go with Peter Bowen’s NO PANIC who tops the MSR/FBR, drops 2 grades, is 2lb lower than his highest winning handicap mark. He was rated 122 over fences when scoring at Hereford last June, acts very well on good to firm ground and the drop in trip will not be a problem after a decent 3rd last time in the Scottish National. He has been given a nice break since then and goes well fresh. Peter Bowen has a decent strike-rate at the track and he looks the value call at an e/w price of 7′s. As I have a free bet on this following a £15 e/w on Stotsfold I am going to place the free bet as £30 win then do a separate place bet on him as that seems the best option. (WINNER 7/1 FREE BET)

Monday – The first Bet365 Feature race is the 3.45 at Newton Abbot and this competitive looking chase can go to the top-rated COLD MOUNTAIN. Just 5/1 with Bet365 so they are not giving too much away. He won easily last time at Fontwell from Hoof It Harry and he could have more improvement to come in similar conditions today. The 12lb rise is a slight worry but he should go well and is +12pts ahead of the 2nd-rated runners. (WINNER 9/1 FREE BET)

Monday – The one I will try to get a free bet from is NUBAR BOY each-way at 14/1. As well as 3rd on MSR and the first-time visor, this one is an old ‘system’ called the ‘De Sousa’ system which you can read about here from last year. He was 2nd here off this mark last month under a 3lb claimer and with De Sousa up on board for the first time after claimers have been on board he rates an interesting e/w candidate. (CLOSE but a nice 2nd and e/w return @ 14/1)

FormBet Ratings now include a feature where the Value Odds (Vodds), Value Percentage (V%) and Betfair Odds update Live in real time on the ratings sheet on a race by race basis when used in conjunction with Gruss Betting Assistant. Gruss are offering a free 30-day trial and the monthly subs for the software are only £5.

You can view a video demo of how this can be used with the FormBet ratings and how to configure it all here. It will be especially useful to use for a value-based betting strategy and removing non-runners automatically adjusts all the information on the ratings sheet.

To signup to FormBet and receive the ratings with this new functionality then visit the signup page. The FormBet ratings also include an OR +/- indicator which displays how much higher or lower the horse’s current official rating is compared to it’s previous highest winning rating which can highlight if a horse is well handicapped or badly handicapped.

I’ve put together a short video tutorial on how to identify well-handicapped, value selections using the FormBet Ratings. These are horses who are both potentially well-handicapped AND represent a value price. By backing horses that are consistently over-priced and well-in at the weights you can achieve long-term profits and the FormBet ratings highlight such runners on the daily ratings sheet.

The ‘Value Handicapping’ approach consists of using the following information on 4 new column headings on the ratings sheet -:

1) OR +/- This compares each horse’s current Official Rating (OR) with it’s previous highest winning official rating to identify which of those horse’s in a race may be well handicapped or not so well handicapped. The higher this figure the better handicapped the horse may be today based on it’s highest-rated previous win in a handicap.

2) Vodds Using each horse’s FBR (FormBet Rating), Value Odds are then calculated for every runner in a race, this is similar to compiling a ‘tissue’ forecast for each race based on the ratings.

3) Bookie This lists the best odds available for every horse in every race and which bookmaker is highest about that horse. This means you no longer need to go hunting around for the best prices in the morning or use Oddschecker as they are listed on the ratings sheet alongside every horse.

4) V% The Value% compares the best odds available with the bookmakers with their Vodds (Value Odds). Anything over 100% indicates the horse may be overpriced at the best available bookmaker odds.

Exactly how I do this is explained in the following video here

Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)

Registration for the 2nd event in the FormBet Poker League is now open for this Sunday 4th July @ 8pm. Entry fee is $10 + $1 (so just over £5). There will be cash prizes for the top-3 in each tournament with points going to the top-3 finishers and a FREE monthly subscription to FormBet to the top points scorer at the end of each month. All you have to do is the following –:

1) Download and install the Ladbrokes poker software using this link or the banner below, this helps me get a small percentage of the ‘rake’ back to go towards prizemoney. If you deposit £35 or more then you can qualify for some decent welcome bonuses depending on how many points you accrue through your playing on the site.

2) Once you have signed and installed the Ladbrokes Poker software, navigate to the following menu –:
Private Tables > Multi-Table Tournaments and register for the FormBet Poker League tournament by 8pm on Sunday. The password is formbet.

I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible on Sunday evening.

Only 6 players turned up for the first FormBet Poker League and the action was fast and furious. It took less than 40 minutes for NelsonKO to scoop the $30 first prize beating Aphexuall head-up who took home $18 with LukeCotton nailing 3rd to take home $12. Unlucky to RedBoris, waggi and an inspired performance by myself to be first out…lol. Everyone gets 5pts for just turning up so the table after week1 looks like this -:

NelsonKO – 35pts

Aphexuall – 23pts

LukeCotton – 17pts

RedBoris – 5pts

waggi – 5pts

FormBet – 5pts

I hope some more people decide to signup next Sunday, it didn’t take too long and was good fun. The winner takes home a free monthly sub at the end of July or if already a member they get an additional £30 on top of any prizemoney they win along the way. Pass onto your friends or anyone else who might be interested…please use the links above to signup. It’s not too late to enter, it runs until Sunday 25th July so plenty of time to take home some cash and bragging rights !

FormBet had a brilliant Royal Ascot with profits every day. Above you can see how the ratings performed. No fewer than 16 of the 30 winners on the week were top-2 on the formbet ratings which outperformed any other ratings out there on the net. If you had placed a tenner on the top-2 on the ratings in each race you would have shown over £410 profit at BetfairSP on the week and considerably more at early prices.

Of course there were also a few winners picked out by myself that were outside the top-2 of the ratings and given in the LiveBlog, notably APPROVE at 16/1, JUNIOR at 15/2 and the nap of the week LADDIES POKER TWO at 9/1.

Since the start of May backing the advised FormBet selections to 1pt stakes has shown a return of 196pts profit at advised prices. The strike-rate is running at 40% and ROI at 27% during the same time period. If you done £10 a point you would have close to £2000 in a 7 weeks !

Previous subscribers please contact me via the Contact page for a special 1/2 price monthly reduced offer for their first initial month for re-subscribing.

With the Newmarket July meeting, some great weekend racing and the York Ebor meeting coming up, the question is whether you can afford to miss out ?

Here were some of the winners given this week in the evening and morning previews -:

GOLDIKOVA has to buck the stat of fillies/mares not having a great record in this. Darjina came very close a few years ago and she would not be in breathing distance of Goldikova so that stat I tend not to read too much into. She is the outstanding miler of our generation and has not been beaten in over 2 years at this trip. Dual Breeders Cup mile Champion she absolutely oozes class and the fact she can claim weight off the others is like tying a weight to Usain Bolt’s opponents legs I think. I think she should win this in style. 7/4 may appear short considering she is up against some tough opposition but I think it is a decent price and will be going for a straight win.

————————————————

I have to admit to being a bit gutted to see CANFORD CLIFFS both top-rated and top of the trends but generally speaking when that happens it’s a very positive sign, especially in Group 1 races. I have to admit that if I didn’t do trends or ratings my gut and heart would say Makfi would confirm his Guineas form. He won me a fair amount of money in May when scoring at 40/1 and 75′s on Betfair as well as nailing the huge tricast thanks to Canford Cliffs and Dick Turpin placing and I can see a similar top-3 this time round. From a pure value point of view from that race Dick Turpin is the one that is overpriced at 8/1 especially as his 2nd to Lope De Vega has been boosted since but then I actually think Makfi is the overpriced one at 11/4 given that he has defeated a subsequent Irish 2000 Guineas winner and subsequent French Guineas runner-up.

However, it’s easy to let sentiment tie you to a horse so I am going with the trends and ratings today and taking on Makfi. Canford Cliffs pulled way too hard in the English Guineas but settled much better at the Curragh and produced a breathtaking turn of acceleration. If doing so again here he could just have the edge today. For me this will be a race to savour and watch as I see no point getting involved too heavily with any horse. I’ll have that 1pt trends bet on Canford Cliffs and another 1pt win on him for being top of the ratings but pocket-aside I will be hoping Makfi does the business to prove he is a truly great 2000 Guineas winner. The only problem I have with him is that Lemaire is not on board and also it will be the first time he has gone round a turn which is an additional concern.

————————————————-

BYWORD almost mugged Goldikova in the Prix D’Ispahan over 9f running on well to suggest this 10f trip could be ideal. It’s worth pointing out that was Goldikova’s first run of the season though but it was still an excellent effort and after yesterday’s win by Goldi it looks like the strongest, most recent form on offer here and should appreciate being stepped back up in trip. It’s short enough but I’ll have a small win on him.

————————————————–

LOLLY FOR DOLLY has to go in given it’s top-rated, value and is MSR1/FBR1. Blue Maiden is interesting but for a small win bet I’ll take a chance that Cecil knows what he is doing dropping TIMEPIECE markedly in class and take the 9/1. Safina is another live threat for Stoute.

—————————————————-

In maidens I look beyond the ratings sometimes and look at TR and Sire stat and the ones that stands out is the Haggas runner APPROVE who is by Oasis Dream who is easily the no.1 sire. The trainer has a 19.1% strike-rate at the track which makes him almost the best in the race in that respect and he drops back in trip having pulled too hard, meeting trouble in running and possibly not handling the track at Epsom last time. He is worth an e/w at 16/1.

—————————————————-

The ratings have this as near enough a match between Hibaayeb and Principal Role while the trends have it between Fatanah and Principal Role. HIBAAYEB is top-rated for Godolphin who have had a pretty slow Royal Ascot apart from the Hunt Cup winner. Hibaayeb did win the Fillies Mile last year, flopped as if in need of the run in the 1000 Guineas before running a big race in France last time when 3rd, upped to 10f, behind subsequent Prix Diane winner Sarafina. That is solid Group 1 form and she raced there as if this step up to 12f would be ideal. Her sire Singspiel was equally as effective at 12f as he was at 10f so no excuses there.

——————————————————

Saturday is looking to be wide-open again but there are a couple of races I really like the look of. The ‘inside tip’ I got from the London Stripe source is for LADDIES POKER TWO in the Wokingham Stakes who has supposedly been laid out for the race. It’s interesting that she was sold a couple of years ago for 100k to Magnier/Tabor and co. but has not run since, Murtagh is an eye-catching booking. I was actually told about this when it was 16/1 but only had a little bit on as I prefer to see my horse line up on the day. She has only had 4 runs, is the lightest raced runner in the field, stall 2 should be ideal and she remains open to considerable improvement. She holds an entry in the July Cup I notice so a mark of 95 should be a winnable one. She is 6th on my ratings but there are only 10pts separating the 2nd-8th horses. I’ll recommend 2pts win @ 9/1 with Ladbrokes as I think she will be punted into a short-priced favourite on the day.

———————————————————-

A small stakes play in the opening 2yo contest for me. I almost paid the price for missing out a top-rated juvenile when Margot Did ran a head 2nd in the Albany Stakes so I will be including the top-rated Clive Brittain runner ZAIDAN who is MSR1/FBR1 and Sire3. Seb Sanders is riding very well at the moment and this one looks a decent bit of e/w value.

———————————————————–

HARBINGER is top of the trends and ratings and looks to have a massive chance of winning here. It’s tough to oppose such runners but equally for me I don’t much like taking odds-on at any competitive race/meeting like Ascot. I probably made a rick in not picking Rainbow Peak at least as a cover bet on Friday but I will only use him as a small cover bet due to the proximity and odds about CD winner BARSHIBA makes my mind up for me and I will go 1/2pt e/w on her instead and hope for a shock result or at the very least a place. She is a game and gritty mare and can frame at a price at the very least.

————————————————————

There were many others that won and placed at decent prices on a fantastic week for FormBet
