Hi everyone,
First just a quick hello to introduce myself, I am Brian Hogg and will be administering a new competition on the Formbet, http://for……….mbet.co.uk web site, hosted by Dave McAuley. If you have not yet visited the site then you are certainly missing out on one of the best Racing websites around these days.
However, back to business. What I am proposing to do is to resurrect the Daily Nap Competition, which will be found under the Forum, Contests and will go under the heading of ‘MONTHLY NAPSTER COMPETITION’.
I intend to start this competition on the 1st December 2009.
As an incentive to participate, there will be prizes for the top 3 players. We don’t have any outside sponsorship at present, but in the interim both myself and Dave have put up some cash prizes, and a special prize offered by Dave. So if you take part, what will you be playing for.
Well, for the Monthly winner there is a cash prize of £25, and you will also receive a one month subscription to Formbets Private Service.
(in the event of a tie, the player with most individual winning naps will receive the £25, and the other player will receive the Private Service).
The Runner Up will receive a cash prize of £15 (in the event of a tie, this will be divided equally)
The third place player will receive a cash prize of £10 (in the event of a tie , this will be divided equally).
All prizes will be delivered to the lucky recipients by Dave after the end of each monthly competition.
Rules of the competition.
All you are required to do is enter ONE Nap selection per day, from any race meeting taking place in the UK and Ireland. Selections made for any other country will not count. The selection must be a 'named' horse, entering 'Fav' will not be accepted. The selection made is for a WIN only basis. Each-way selections will not be accepted, just to keep administration of the site to an acceptable level.
You must enter a minimum of 15 selections per month, to qualify for any of the prizes. Anyone entering 14 selections or less per month will not receive a prize. (NB. This may vary depending if we have days when no racing is possible – but I will always advise what the qualifying number will be at some point during the competition)
This is done to prevent any ‘chancer’ finding a 66/1 shot and sitting back and doing nothing for the rest of the month. Participation is what we are looking for, and making sure you visit the site on a regular basis.
Points will be accumulated on the basis of winning naps being calculated according to Starting Prices displayed on the Sporting Life website.
Losing naps will be deducted one point.
Anyone entering a selection which turns out to be a Non Runner, can enter another selection during the day as a substitute, but if you choose not to substitute your non runner, you will still be credited as having made a selection for that day, and will go forward as one of your possible 15 credits for the month to qualify for the prizes on offer.
I hope to produce a table of results/positions at the close of each day. However, this may well depend to some extent on the time I have each evening to do this, and obviously any night meetings could mean this may not happen till late in the evening, however, I will always do my best to keep you fully aware with an updated table at all times. If for any reason i’m not able to do this I will notify you on the Forum, and will catch up as soon as time enables me.
And I will inform you now, that although I propose to kick this competition off at the beginning of December, I will not be available for updates on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th December. However, please still make your selections for those days and I will catch up either late Sunday or Monday.
All you have to do to get involved now is make your selections on the Forum, using your individual user names. If I do see any ‘duplicated’ user names, i.e two people calling themselves ‘Jimbo’ for example, I will seek to ask one of them to change it, maybe by just adding another character, %&*(“# , something along those lines.
No need to register beforehand, just join in when you are ready.
I hope I have covered everything, but if you have a query, post it up on the forum under the Monthly Napster Competition before we kick it off and i’ll endeavour to resolve it before the competition starts.
In all events, as administrator of the competition, my say is final.
And by the way, Dave and myself will not be excluded from the competition.
PS………..if you know a friend, colleague who would be interested in having a bit of fun, then let them know, get them to participate, and have a look a this great website into the bargain.
Dave (Formbet) will hopefully, e-mail everyone on his mailing list, as some people may have lapsed their interest since the last competion ended, so I apologise in advance if after having read it on the forum you then get an e-mail.
